Take – Read
I woke up so excited for the New Year 2011
Louie Giglio said, “What’s done is done, but God is not through with you.”
And that just reminded me that past sins and past failures are just that past. Jesus our Lord and Savior has shed His blood and forgiven those sins.
I’m excited for what God is going to do this year in my life, the life of my family, the life of HIS Church and in your life.
I know some of us optimistic types love to make New Year’s resolutions.
Well here is mine and I pray you will make it yours
The Resolution
Read and Study the New Testament chronologically this Year.
Why Study and Read?
Jesus said to Satan, “The Scriptures say, man does not live by bread alone but by every Word that comes from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)
4 Reasons to Read and Study God’s Word (there are many more)
1. To Know God
2. To Know Ourselves
3. To Become who God Created Us to Be
4. To Understand our Hope
How to Read the Bible
1. Begin with prayer
Martin Luther prayed this – maybe you can pray something like it before you Read God’s Word
“May I receive and believe it – (God’s Truth) and be cheered and comforted by it. Glorify Your Word in my heart and make it so bright and warm that I may find pleasure in it and through Your Holy Spirit, think what is right and by Your power fulfill the Word, for the sake of Jesus Christ Your Son, our Lord.” Amen
2. Read the passage, chapter or section for that day
3. Journal
Write in your own words – what does this say
What should I do or not do?
What should repent of?
What should I learn from this reading?
Blessings

Pastor Tony
WOW, Tony. I just discovered this and it's great! Did you develop this blog? You gotta' mention it on Sunday - it's a great review of each sermon.
ReplyDeleteWhat a talented Pastor we have!
